Annotated Bibliography
Due: October 18, 2016
If you cannot get it in on this date, please remember to phone my voice mail.
This mark will be included in your midterm mark.
At this point in your process you should, ideally, have about two thirds of your research done. You should have a minimum of 7 sources on your bibliography but depending on your topic, this may not be enough. I would like to see a balance of empirical and journalistic sources. Remember do not include:
- Encyclopaedia sources
- Website sources that are not credible or reliable
- any internet source that does not include a date or an author (credible individual or institution)
Follow the style guide to write your bibliography properly. I will be brutal on the details!
Your Bibliography should follow the following format:
Working Thesis:
Topic Sentence #1: introduce argument and link to thesis
List the sources that you will use to prove this argument in alphabetical order
Source #1
Brooks, Terry. Why I love teaching History. Alliston: Banting Press, 2009.
Leave one line
Annotation: in two to three lines describe, in your own words, how this source will help you to prove this argument. If your author or source could be questioned for reliability or credibility, be sure to include an annotation substantiating that source.
Source #2
Leave one line
Annotation:
Source #3 (if you have three sources at this point)
Annotation:
Follow the same format for arguments #2 and #3. Note, however, the difference in topic sentences. In addition to introducing the argument and linking to thesis, topic sentences #2 and #3 must also include a transition from the previous argument.
A conclusion and introduction is not necessary for the Annotated Bibliography
