Civics: Grade 10 Open
Course Overview: the purpose of the half credit course in civics is to instruct students in their rights and responsibilites both as citizens of Canada and of the world. As citizens of a democratically elected country, students will learn about the principles and elements of democracy, as well as the meaning of democratic citizenship on a local, provincial, national and global context. Students will be encouraged to explore and appraise their own beliefs and value systems - as well as the beliefs and value systems of other peoples, societies and governments- on the important issues of citizenship currently at play both in Canada and around the world today.
